Leave the meal planning to us! Your registration includes catered meals throughout Iowa Project AWARE.

Meal Times

  • Breakfast: Served at 7 a.m.
  • Lunch: Available to pack in your personal cooler at 7 a.m. We’ll supply ice you can use to keep your lunch cool while you’re on the river; bring a zip-top bag or water bottle to put the ice in.
  • Dinner: Served 6 p.m.

Dietary Preferences

Meals are served a la carte to accommodate a variety of dietary preferences.

Dinnerware

To reduce trash, disposable dinnerware is not available. You’ll need to bring a reusable plate or bowl, cup, and silverware. You’ll be able to wash your dishes after each meal.

Dinner
Provided by La Calle Specialty Sandwiches & South American-Style Street Food

  • Arepas (gluten-free): Grilled corn flour flatbread with your choice of fillings
  • Cachapas: Hand-pattied and grilled whole corn pancake with your choice of fillings
  • Venezuelan frijol burger: Black bean burger, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle sauce
  • Cuban Sandwich: Steege’s smoked pork loin, smoked ham, smoked cheese, pickle, jalapeno mustard on a brioche bun

Drinks: Iced tea, lemonade, coffee, 2% milk, skim milk, and soy milk

Monday, July 8

Scrambled Eggs, sausage links, hash browns, fresh fruit

Lunch
Assorted breads, deli meats (including smoked ham, roast beef, and smoked turkey), deli cheeses (American, colby jack, pepper jack, and provolone), veggies (lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, sugar snap peas, and onions), whole fruit (apples, grapes, and oranges), and cookies

Dinner

  • La Calle Taco Bar:
  • Corn and flour tortillas
  • Slow cooked chicken
  • Black beans, corn, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheese, black olives, onions and sour cream
  • Salsa and corn chips
  • Rice pudding
